Asakusa has many beautiful photo spots that go perfectly with kimono. Here are some recommended places to visit after getting dressed.
The large red lantern at Kaminarimon Gate is one of the most iconic symbols of Asakusa and a perfect photo spot. A kimono photo in front of this traditional gate always looks beautiful. If you visit in the quiet morning hours, you may be able to avoid the crowds and take even better photos.
Nakamise Street is the lively approach to Sensoji Temple. Walking here in kimono creates a photo that feels truly Japanese, with a mix of traditional atmosphere and modern sightseeing energy. Photos taken with the busy shopping street in the background are perfect memories of your trip.
The main hall and five-storied pagoda of Sensoji Temple go beautifully with kimono. You can take photos where the historic buildings and colorful kimono create a stunning Japanese scene. Enjoy the calm atmosphere and capture a special moment during your visit.
Sumida Park is especially popular during cherry blossom season. In spring, you can take beautiful kimono photos with cherry blossoms in full bloom. In other seasons, the riverside scenery and Tokyo Skytree make a lovely background. It is also a relaxing area to enjoy a peaceful kimono walk.
Walk-ins are welcome, but we recommend making a reservation, especially during busy seasons such as cherry blossom season, summer holidays, and special event days.
It usually takes about 45 to 60 minutes, including kimono selection, dressing, and hair styling if included in your plan.
